FRESNO, CALIF. — Trial has been ordered for a San Joaquin Valley farmworker charged with sexually assaulting a 4-year-old disabled girl found alive after being buried in a vineyard.

The Fresno judge ruled after a preliminary hearing Tuesday that there was enough evidence to try 26-year-old Juan Gomez-Jimenez for the Christmas Day 2008 attack.

Detective Virginia Rodriguez testified the girl was found buried in a vineyard with a foot sticking out of the ground. A rescuer dug her out, shook her and she began to breathe.

Prosecutor Lisa Gamoian says Gomez-Jimenez's semen was on the girl and detectives found the girl's blood on his hands.

Gomez-Jimenez is charged with forcible sex, lewd acts with a minor and attempted murder.
