Last night the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Board of Education approved the permanent appointment of Don Leake as principal for Eagle Ridge Junior High School in Savage. For the past year Leake has been the interim principal there filling in the position for interim Burnsville High School principal Dave Helke who made that position permanent in March. The board also approved a lease agreement to finance the installation of synthetic turf at Hanson field in Pates Stadium. Construction is set to begin the day after graduation Saturday, June 6. The board approved the $170000 federal grant to fund technology and teacher training for more interactive learning tools in the classroom. The Enhancing Education Through Technology or E2T2 grant will help the district purchase SMART boards, LCD projectors, laptops, student response clickers and more used over the next two school years. The board also approved stipends for each E2T2 teacher at each school with grades 3-8 to facilitate their training and technology meetings. Each E2T2 teacher will get $440 a year.
